CNY 2015 Flower Shape Chocolate German Cookies [花花巧克力德式酥饼]

Made these after baking the plain and marble German cookies.  Like the previous bakes, this one turned out well and as good as the previous two as the recipe is the same.
Verdict - the cookies are crispy, melt-in the mouth and very chocolaty.  It's a keeper and a good cookie to bake if you like chocolate flavoured cookies.  The dough is easy to prepare and handle.

Tips - You can make this when you are making the Chocolate Marbled German Cookies.  Actually, with the Chocolate Marbled Cookies' recipe you can make 3 different types of German Cookies.  Hahaha!, imagination running 'wild' or 'confused'.  Just double the quantity, use a quarter of the plain to make the plain flower shape cookies, a quarter of the chocolate dough to make the chocolate flower shape cookies and the remaining half portions to make the marbled cookies.  Very simple....

I made a double portion [shown in red] and use potato starch.
Recipe Adapted from Anncoo Journal
Ingredients
[makes 105 pieces]
125 gm butter [250 gm]
40 gm icing sugar [80 gm] - sifted
125 gm potato starch or corn starch [250 gm]
20 gm cocoa powder [40 gm] - sifted twice
60 gm plain flour [120 gm] - sifted twice
  1. Beat butter and icing sugar till fluffy and lighter in color.
  2. Sift in potato starch, cocoa powder and plain flour, mix to form a soft chocolate dough.
  3. Fill the dough into nozzle mould of your choice, press it with the thumb into the baking tray line with parchment paper and place some coloured rice on top of the piped out cookie dough.
  4. Bake at preheated oven at 170 degrees C for 13-15 mins depending on the size of your cookies.
  5. Remove from oven, leave to cool completely on  a wire rack and store in airtight container.
